The Top 10 Greatest Cartoon Shows Of All Time (part 5)

#2. The Simpsons

This show is destined to become the longest-running show ever on network television. Though hardcore fans insist the series has been in decline since the so-called “classic years” (1993-1997) The Simpsons, even at its worst, is still more entertaining than most of the current televised tripe that passes for comedy.

The characters have been cultural icons for over a decade, and the original cast of voice actors remains completely intact. After 450 episodes, and some ludicrously strained plots, the series has done just about everything. Yet it’s so woven into our collective consciousness, that tuning in to watch new episodes is more like checking in with our good neighborinos, that crazy but good-natured family down the street we’ve become friendly with.

And now for the predictable ending you’ve all been waiting for..here’s Number One!

#1. Looney Tunes

In TV Guide’s list of the top 50 cartoon characters of all time, Bugs Bunny ranks at #1. While the general order and arrangement of most of this list can be easily contested, the number one spot is a sure thing. However, Bugs as a standalone character is not nearly as significant as his status as the primary representative of the entire Looney Tunes cast. After all, where would he have been without his co-stars, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Porky Pig, Sylvester, Tweety, Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote, Yosemite Sam, Foghorn Leghorn, Speedy Gonzales, Pepe LePew, the Tasmanian Devil, Marvin the Martian, and Granny?

With so many episodes, spin-offs, and incarnations (Taz, Tiny Toon Adventures, and the best named cartoon show of all, The Cat-And-Bunny-Warneroonie-Super-Looney-Big-Cartoonie-Show – formerly The Cat & Birdy Warneroonie Pinky Brainy Big Cartoonie Show) Looney Tunes is without a doubt, the greatest franchise in the history of cartoon shows, and in the history of animation itself.

And that concludes our list of the Top Ten Greatest Cartoon Shows Of All Time. Hope you’ve enjoyed it, and in the words of Porky Pig…
