It seems this run of Family Guy has been pretty rough on Brian. Meg’s status as whipping girl has seemingly been relegated to Brian in two consecutive episodes.

Throughout the Season 8 Episode “Dog Gone,” Brian is invited to receive an award, from a literary society, in honor of his book, “Faster Than the Speed of Love.” Due to the society’s extremely unsophisticated membership, the award ceremony is actually a blow to Brian’s opinion of himself as a writer.

As the episode continues, Brian experiences a number of humiliating incidents and stark realizations that render him a crying, inconsolable mess. Sadly, he’d experienced a very similar situation in the previous episode, “Jerome is The New Black,” when he tries to win Quagmire’s friendship, only to be treated to a lambasting that us nothing short of an all-out assault on Brian’s character.

Needless to say, these past two episodes have been treating poor Brian Griffin like a total dog, or perhaps worse – a conscious dog capable of feeling insulted.
